The number of pickup van models are continually inflating as time passes by.  As a matter of fact, one of the newest models for pickup vans today is the 2009 Chevrolet Silverado.  This model is really understood to attack the world market in the early part of 2009.  Unfortunately, its manufacturer, General Motors encountered some problems and as a consequence, the release of Silverado has been quite deferred.  At any rate, it is already believed to be available in the market at the moment.  Thus, plenty of car users all over the world are by now excited about it.

The 2009 Silverado is alleged to be akin to that of the previous versions of Silverado from Chevrolet.  It is just that this latest model is being powered by a up-to-the-minute diesel engine, which is the V8 turbo.  It comes in 3 diverse styles too particularly, the regular, extended, and the crew taxi style model.  The regular taxi style model basically has a three-seating capacity.  On the other hand, both the crew and extended taxi style models have the power to accommodate up to 6 passengers.  The sole difference is that the extended cab style has side-hinged doors that cannot freely unlock the fronts.  Likewise, the all-new Silverado also offers 2 kinds of interior designs, which are the pure pickup and the luxury electrified designs.  You can select any of these categories of designs that you want.  You only need to make sure to select the design which reasonably suits your general personality to have some exclusiveness in your car.

Indeed, the 2009 version of Chevrolet Silverado is the most up-to-date model of pickup van today.  It may seem to be like the other versions of Silverado but it actually has traits which make it really notable, some of which have something to do with its engine and interior design.  Thus, it is just quite safe to say the current Silverado of Chevrolet is a good model of vehicle to have at this very moment.

General Motors Develop Greener and Smaller Cars

Posted under General by TDI Guru on Tuesday 6 October 2009 at 9:36 am

The giant of the motoring industry, General Motors, who own brands like Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, Pontiac and Buick, have reveasleda line-up of new cars. Only last month, General Motors recovered from 40 days of bankruptcy, in that time the US government invested billion into the company, making it now 60% public owned.

Now that General Motors are save from bankruptcy for a while, they are starting to look ahead and make changes to their brands. Within the past week, they have released details about the new ways they will be selling their cars. One of the methods was by listing their vehicles on eBay which began on August 11th.

Last Tuesday, August 11th, General Motors invited a group of hand chosen consumers to Detroit for a special event. The event was used to show off the new range of cars that General Motors will be releasing in the next year. After they bounced back from bankruptcy, General Motors have been looking at their current car models, and they want change.

At the moment, most of their cars are large tank like vehicles that do very little miles per gallon, at one point these were very popular with Americans, however, motorists are choosing smaller and more greener cars these days. In an attempt to bring in a greener and younger customers, they have designed a series of smaller and more fuel efficient cars that will be released across their range of brands.

A couple of the cars announced that will be very popular is the Chevrolet Volt. This car is scheduled for release sometime in 2010 and it’s become popular due to the number of miles per gallon it can do. Currently the car is estimated to be able to do 230 miles per gallon which is a huge amount and it drastically reduces the running of the car.

The other big announcement for new cars is the new model Cadillac. The new Cadillac is a new small sports sedan and it will have either rear wheel or four wheel drive. This new car is going to be smaller than the popular CTS model.

During the event, a number of planned changes were announced by General Motors, all of which are expected to take effect within the next 3 years. Some of those plans included doubling the amount of models Buick have, going from the current 3, up to 6. We’ll have to keep one eye open to see what cars are released first and what sort of effect they have on General Motors’ market share. Hopefully we’ll also see some of the models coming to the contract hire market. Currently if you are after leasing a large American car, you have to get a Chrysler lease. Another option would be to go for cheap van leasing because they’re the closest size match to a Chevrolet.

Corvette Owners With High Performance Versions Put Them In Good Use

Posted under General by TDI Guru on Tuesday 6 October 2009 at 9:36 am

The Chevrolet Corvette, a Sportscar legend and a Auto Classic for ever, has somehow survived inflated insurance rates ; every kind of inane and incomprehensible safety legislation and engine pollution add ons. The Chevrolet Corvette has been universally accepted as the measure of a high-performance sports car. Cars come and go, new model of automobiles appear and disappear and yet the Corvette lives on. No car has been in a position to cover as many sides of the high-performance sport as the Corvette. The versatility of this superb car has appealed to all age groups and has kept the possession of a Corvette, a most distinguished thing.

The Corvette has gone thru many changes in its lifetime, including each custom and hot rod trend going. It has a miracle that the Corvette has remained a real high-performance sports vehicle and did not grown up into a two plus two sedan as did Ford’s Thunderbird. The Corvette was in the on the beginnings of the fast car era. In the mid 50′s folks wanted fast autos, and by 1957 the Corvette was leading the pack. Hot rodding owes a giant debt to the Corvette; it was responsible for almost all the higher performance parts ever to come from Chevrolet. Four speed transmissions, dual quad intake manifolds and hot solid lifter camshafts.

One of the enormous contributions to the Corvette’s success story was the variety of options that were offered. Ever since 1956, there had been the choice of a standard of high performance automatic transmission. Each vehicle might be tailored into a semi competitive race automobile of a good day by commuter by just picking the right options. The Corvette could play either role very well.

Performance was the trend in latter 1950′s and early 1960′s. One of the most important controversies of the day was which was quicker – a Corvette with dual four barrel carbs or one with fuel injection.

Corvette owners were buying the high performance versions and putting them to good use at weekend drags and the novice road events. There were metallic brake and sway bar options for the sporty set. And although the suspensions system was a conglomeration of early passenger car parts, the low center of gravity and near equal weight distribution made these autos handle well. The 50/50 weight distribution did not hurt the drag racers one bit either, and they won more than their share.

When 1963 happened, it brought with it a real change in the Corvette. The new body style called the “Sting Ray” was unavailable in a fastback version commonly called a “coupe” and in the traditional roadster version with a removable hardtop. The Sting Ray had much cleaner lines than its forefathers and even featured retractable headlights. With the change in body style, the suspension was massively improved with a new independent rear suspension assembly and updated steering gear. It does had the performance of the older cars, including the Rochester fuel injected 327 cubic inch engine, rated at 360 horsepower.

The Chevrolet Corvette is certainly an Yankee Sportscar Classic.
