Isle Of Wight Car Reviews

Posted under General by TDI Guru on Saturday 24 July 2010 at 11:19 pm

Not so long ago we went on a camping trip from Midlands to Isle Of Wight. 12 of us including me were unsure on which cars we should take for this trip. At first we thought we will just take our normal 3 doors cars but then we realised we won’t be able to fit our camping gear with bbq equipments. We researched on the net for cars and read used car reviews on which cars to take and the decided to hire out one 4×4 to fit our camping and bbq gears.

We leased 3 ltr Nissan Navara and to be honest it didn’t cost as much as we thought it would the only problem we had was it did drank a lot of petrol. Though I have to say it is a fantastic car to drive, it has massive amount of room to fit your luggage including your campaign gear, chairs, bbq equipments and we even took some woods for some fire in the beach and because you are going on a long drive automatic cars are always relaxing.

After researching online we phoned our local used cars leasing company to hire the car. We wanted to hire it for few days and the quote we received was quite surprising to us as it was relevantly cheap. One of the plus point was definitely when we were on the way to Portsmouth to Isle of Wight from London we caught a horrible traffic in M25, I was driving the Nissan Audi R8. We had to catch a ferry from Portsmouth at 4:30pm and as soon as we hit M25 after picking few friends from London it wasn’t looking good until I turn on the navigation system of the Navara, it showed us a different route through M3 but also showed us how much traffic that route had, it was incredible. What a brilliant navigational system? The technology has gone far today. If only my C30 had the same system. It’s not only the navigation of the Nissan to be honest, the drive was relaxing, great music system, beautiful performance and great speed.

Cars And Councils

Posted under General by TDI Guru on Friday 23 July 2010 at 2:43 pm

The new freedom of information act has helped the public to know just where all of their money is actually going and it would seem that the newest form of treachery comes from local councils wasting tax payers money on cars and transportation.

Well surprise, surprise it would seem that people are spending way too much money on the cars that they send out their council members and mayors on. This is once again another low blow to the people of Britain that pay their hard earned wages to people that just blow it on nothing, surely most of these people actually have cars of their own, in fact, they do!?

Who do these people think they are, they are no more important than anyone else in fact in my eyes they are less important. I will make a point to say that there are not many people out there that give a damn about the mayor of their town. The council are a lot worse than the government, they don’t follow up on promises they pocket the town’s cash and use it for ridiculous things like this and it is wrong!

So where are these costs coming from? A lot of these people are actually booking cars like the Jaguar, yes I am serious, do they really think people are going to like this?. This money needs to be spent on things that the people of the town are going to benefit from, how about the potholes!. You would have thought that considering the country is in such debt that they would look at making savings, clearly not.

Next you will find them spending money on car accessories like satellite navigation and reverse parking sensors.

So there you have it really, when you look at things it is up to you on what you think is right and wrong, I think you know what my opinion on it all is.

Are Cars In For The Future?

Posted under General by TDI Guru on Thursday 22 July 2010 at 10:43 pm

When it comes to the future and the way forward when it comes to main transportation a lot of people still believe in cars. Is this the case or are there things out there that the people could be using?

Monorail

This idea is of course a bit old school but it would still work if a lot of people wanted to bring it forward. If you remember the Simpsons it does not work at all well but in DisneyWorld it works very well indeed and Monorail’s are great to ride. It is not really that different from a subway train apart from the fact is is above ground meaning you would not have to change much, you could build it above highways very easily indeed.

Teleportation

If this technology was around I have no doubt at all that it would replace the car but it is not so keep on hoping. The problem with this is that it will never come into the public use because of so many other companies going out of business. This would be a great way to travel but would take years to test. What would happen to all of those lease cars

Flying Cars?

This one is not going to happen again because of all of the damage it may cause and crashes that would happen, airlines would also be out of business. It would be cool to fly a delorean it is just not going to happen, sorry doc. Could you imagine the gap insurance costs on this!

In the end I think there are going to be more advancement on cars before we see anything too futuristic come into play and this is because the other options are unrealistic and expensive.

So there you have it, I think the range rover sport 3.0 TDV6 is going to carry on for a number of years.

Leo Kaytes Ford Offers DIY Seasonal Maintenance Tips

Posted under General by TDI Guru on Tuesday 20 July 2010 at 3:09 am

With temperatures approaching extreme highs and no relief in sight, every driver has to consider the damaging effect that the heat can have on a poorly serviced vehicle. Leo Kaytes specialize in new Ford Edge Warwick New York, new Ford F-150, new Ford Focus Warwick cars. The Ford Service team at the Warwick, New York dealer have assembled this this checklist that can save any driver time, expense, and headaches this summer.

An easy first step is checking the tire pressure. Seasonal temperature changes affect tire pressures. Improper tire inflation affects ride smoothness and gas mileage; remember that an over-inflated tire is just as bad as an under-inflated tire. It’s easy to forget to inflate the spare tire and check that the roadside tools (jack, lug-wrench, and wheel lock if necessary) are working properly.

Next make sure all of the fluids are topped off including radiator fluid, engine oil, brake fluid, power steering fluid and wiper fluid. Pay close attention to the HOT and COLD level indicators and only fill to the correct line. Adding too much oil or fluids can damage sensitive engine components.

Check that the battery is fully charged and the terminals are corrosion-free. The heat can kill a car battery quickly and summertime humidity will lead to rust formation on the battery terminals.

An oft-overlooked piece of safe summer driving is the condition of the windshield wipers. They should be free of cracks and the steel hooks should be clear of the windsheild surface. A new set of wiper blades costs around $20 and can really take the fear out of summer driving.

Once that is all complete check the serpentine belts for fissures and tightness. A constant squeaking noise is the first warning sign of imminent belt failure. This belt typically runs the A/C compressor, alternator, and power steering so keeping a close watch on it can be the difference between a good running car and catastophe.

If you don’t want to do your own pre trip inspection bring your car to Russell&Smith Honda’s Service Department. Trust the experts. With their well-equipped shops, OEM parts and the factory certified technicians, Russell&Smith Honda can insure a wonderful and trouble-free summer vacation. There are many potential headaches involved with summer driving, but with proper maintainance car trouble doesn’t have to be one of them.

Getting Garmin Car GPS

Posted under General by TDI Guru on Thursday 15 July 2010 at 11:42 pm

If you want a car GPS product to improve your driving experience, it is important to choose the right features. It is advisable to use a standard product like Garmin Car GPS as the benchmark. A look at some popular devices like Garmin Car GPS is a good idea.

If you do not want to drive with one hand, it is important to get a GPS device that has why inbuilt voice recognition. You just need to dictate your instructions and the GPS device will acknowledge it and respond accordingly. The last thing you want is for the GPS device to become a safety risk.

If you want to continue using the GPS devise even when you are old, it is advisable to get one with a wide screen. Being forced to stop your car to look at the GPS device does not make sense. It is supposed to make your travel time shorter, not longer. Difficulty in the seeing the route as shown by the GPS or understanding the traffic indications can be very frustrating.

If you have trouble reading 2D maps, you will definitely have a problem with a 2D view in your GPS devices. This is where using the Garmin Car GPS that offers a 3D view will be very helpful as you do not have to be a tech savvy person or a good navigator. It is the closest you will get to real life imagery.

Garmin Car GPS comes along with wireless and Bluetooth facility as well. Both these options make it very easy to transfer files. You can download maps directly into your cell phone or laptop. It is just a matter of time before devices that connect directly to the internet become popular. Wireless enables easy transfer of maps through the laptop computer.

Preloaded maps are very useful in getting started without any difficulty. As a name suggests, you just have to power the device on and you can start navigating your way through the traffic. There is no need to search the web for maps, download the same and transfer it by a wired connection or by wireless or Bluetooth.

A slim and a sleek model, although not very essential, will be advisable. However, a device that combines good looks and good performance does not hurt, does it? Secondly, it will not clash with the aesthetics of your automobile and will only enhance the looks and appearance of your vehicle. From the functional point of view, it will not block your view upfront. Hence, it makes sense to going for a Garmin Car GPS device.
