Posted under General by TDI Guru on Monday 31 August 2009 at 8:09 pm

Hertz is a car rental company that is world famous and is the leading vehicle renting company in the world with more than eighty-one hundred worldwide locations spread across approximately one hundred and forty-seven countries. Everyone knows that Hertz is a car rental company that is also the number one airport car rental service brand in the entire United States. Even in Europe you will find as many as sixty-nine different airport locations where you will find a Hertz car rental outlet and of course its presence in North America, Latin America and Australia as well as New Zealand is pretty significant as well.

Novel Services

You can travel to Asia, Africa and the Middle East and still be able to find a Hertz car rental outlet with as much ease as you do in the more advanced Western countries. In addition to convenience of access, the Hertz car rental company also offers novel services such as Hertz #1 Club Gold and NeverLost navigation systems and of course you get Sirius Satellite Radio as well.

The cars being rented out by every Hertz car rental outlet are unique and you can also hire SUVs and vans – all of which helps to set Hertz apart from its competitors. The Hertz car rental company all began in the year 1918 when a pioneer in the field of vehicle renting Walter L. Jacobs opened up a car rental service in Chicago. Though he only began with about twelve Model T Fords he did, thanks to his dedication and hard work, succeed in what has today become an empire in its own right.

In the twenties, however Jacobs sold his company to John Hertz who was President of Yellow Cab and Yellow Truck and also of Coach Manufacturing Company. However, Jacobs continued to be associated with Hertz in the newly formed venture called Hertz Drive-Self System. From then onward to the present the Hertz car rental services have gone from strength to strength and today it offers its specialty vehicle the Corvette ZHZ that is testimony to the iconic status that Hertz car rentals enjoy today.

At present, Hertz is the one car rental company that is considered a traveler’s best friend and to ensure that it remains so the company offers Hertz car rental coupons that help travelers to avoid the hassle of having to fight over taxis when they arrive at an airport. With these coupons, travelers can end up saving fifty percent of the cost of renting a car from any of the many thousand different locations being served by Hertz car rental.

Purchasing a Hybrid Automobile

Posted under General by TDI Guru on Monday 31 August 2009 at 8:09 pm

More people are trying to save money by turning to hybrid car technology to combat the cost in rising fuel prices.  Hybrid cars also help protect the environment as well as save on fuel cost.  There are some things that you should know about hybrid cars that will confirm for you whether you should buy one of these vehicles or not.

The mileage you achieve with the hybrid is the first thing you need to look at.  It goes without saying that these hybrid cars are much more economical on mileage than normal cars of a similar size.  A couple of things may make the savings you make on mileage pale into insignificance.  You will save money with a hybrid car on the amount of fuel you will need, but the cost of the vehicles may mean that it takes you years to recover the added expense of buying a hybrid.

Consider the amount of money that you will save in fuel per week or month and then take a look at the larger expense of the car.  A lot of people will feel the saving on fuel will not justify the outlay in buying the car.  On the other hand, some people make think there is more at hand than just saving on the fuel.  For some buyers of hybrid cars, the more important issue is fuel efficiency for the sake of the environment.  If you fall into this category, then the cash saving will not be an issue.

Consider the size of the vehicle that you are buying as well.  Although you may be making some savings on fuel, you still have to be able to fit things in, like storage and… the family.  Be sure there is plenty of room to accommodate all your requirements.

Buying a Used Car

Posted under General by TDI Guru on Monday 31 August 2009 at 8:09 pm

When making the decision to buy a new car, you will have to decide if it is in your best interest to buy a new car or a used one.  For some the cost of a new car is simply out of the budget that they have planned for their vehicle.  A used car offers a buyer the option to get a good deal on a great car that may only be a couple of years old.  There are a few things that should be remembered though before purchasing a second hand car.

At any particular time there will be many used cars on the market that have depreciated considerably in their value.  Although these autos are as good as they were a couple of years ago, for example, people are just not buying in large numbers due to the present economic climate.  It is therefore an ideal time to pick up a really good deal and one that probably would not have been available a few years back.  Just because these motors are at great prices doesn’t mean you should be lax in checking it out thoroughly before the purchase.

If you are unsure how to go about this, take somebody with you who does.  There are many things to check and a look in the bonnet and a quick test drive will not answer all the questions.  A mechanic or someone who is knowledgeable about cars will be able to help you determine if the car is a good value for the money.  These people will also be able to determine any strange sounds emanating from the car on test drive, sounds which you may not pick up on.

When you take the car on a test drive, make sure it is not a short one. It is essential that you spend as much time in the car as you can before you decide to buy.  You can’t tell how comfortable the car will be to drive in only a few minutes.  Also, you’ll not be able to determine how the car handles on longer drives.

Locating Cheap Chevy Trucks For Sale

Posted under General by TDI Guru on Monday 31 August 2009 at 8:09 pm

If you are in business for yourself or if you just need a good second family vehicle, this is a great time to find a deal on used Chevy trucks.  With so much promoting of new cars, many people have been trading in their larger used trucks.  Obviously a good number of owners have traded in their used Chevy trucks which is good for smart shoppers.

The constant negative publicity concerning the auto industry and rising fuel costs have motivated a lot people to buy new cars.  That is good news for those of us looking for used Chevy Trucks for sale.  While dealerships give lousy trade-in values for full size vehicles at this time, they haven’t seen fit to lower their retail prices very much since they really want to move new cars off their lots.  Of course this is how the dealerships make their money.  Although newer truck models might get better gas mileage, a smart buyer will consider what the vehicle will cost them over their total years of use.  If you can buy a dependable Chevy truck that has a history of a long useful life, you might realize an actual savings over the lifetime of the vehicle over the price of buying a new vehicle.  For business use, nothing can replace the usefulness of owning a dependable truck.

It is interesting that, many of these same dealerships are now selling their used Chevy trucks by online car auctions.  Don’t be mislead by the term “auction” in this case.  These car auctions are a retail tool to sell off their inventory at prices lower then you would find on most dealer car lots.  Some might be skeptical of buying a vehicle online.  But consider the seller has to be completely honest in presenting his Chevy truck for sale.  He has to include good photos, give total disclosure of any problems and provide full warranty or policy statements.  In many cases, this is more then you receive when you deal with a live salesman at a dealership.  The online auction regulates their operation so if a seller wants to maintain a good online reputation, he has to satisfy his customers.  That is more then can be said for many local car dealerships today.

So it makes good sense to consider a Chevy truck if you have the need for a larger vehicle.  Their reputation promises a long life of service at a bargain price if you know where to shop.

Car Payment Calculator -Information and Tips

Posted under General by TDI Guru on Monday 31 August 2009 at 8:09 pm

Having a car is a necessity for most people in the modern world.  Public transportation isn’t enough for some people.  There’s just too much to do on too many unique schedules.  Add to this the fact that it can be dangerous to ride public transportation especially at night.  The case for a car is a good one.  When people want to know if they can fit a car into the scheme of things, they turn to a car payment calculator.

These car payment calculators are pretty simple. Many can be found on line on sites like edmunds.com. They take input for the sales price, interest rate, term, amount of a down payment, amount of a trade in and often other factors, then spit out the expected monthly payment. Some of them even add in the expected insurance costs, but if the one you choose doesn’t make sure to keep that cost in mind. In fact, it’s a good idea to look at all the costs of car ownership before making a purchase. These include insurance, of course, maintenance such as tires and oil changes, cost of storage which might include extra rental fees for a garage space at the apartment and the office. Costs also include the price of gasoline in your area.

Many people often overlook hidden costs such as cost for accidents.  That’s the deductible on most policies.  Is your deductible affordable?  Can you take the increased monthly payment after an accident?  Don’t forget smog check and vehicle registration.  Although all vehicles share this, it’s part of the overall cost.

One big mistake people make when purchasing a car is to go by that monthly payment. The salesman says “I can put you in that car for $359 a month.” That sounds great. But something is missing. That’s the price of the car. Without the bottom line price a buyer can’t really shop for the best deal or haggle for the best price. Looking only at the monthly payment, or even at the monthly payment plus all the other expenses, is only part of the picture. The price must be known before the car is purchased, that’s a car payment calculator for.

A car payment calculator is a great tool to help determine if a car fits into the budget. But it’s only one tool that offers only some of the important financial information needed for a car purchase. Make sure you have all the tools and all the information before buying that car.
