Purchasing a Second Hand Car

A second hand car is effectively a new car, in terms of performace, if it is only a couple of years old and yet it still comes with a 20% – 40% discount on the original price of the new model. So you will not only be getting a great car for your money but you will also be saving a huge amount of money that is better off in your own pocket rather than someone else's.

Although you are paying less for the second hand car that in no way means you are getting a worse car for it. In fact experts agree that second hand cars that are a couple of years old are probably better vehicles to own. There are very many explanations for this. Remember that one of the things you can't do with a new car, is drive at full speed for about 6 months after purchase. It has to be gradually worked up to full power. Secondly used cars for sale that are a couple of years old have been driven and assessed and hence you will know right from the get go their little foibles and quirks.

There are some downsides with used cars of course. The usual thing would be that you will have to pay a higher interest rate at any automotive finance dealer because the dealership would not offer the same incentives, for instance, a 0% finance plan as is often done on new vehicle plans. But you would need to bear in mind that the very latest car gadgets will not be available to you in a second hand car – this shouldnt put you off buying one however, you should be able to replace the existing sound system with a brand new one with all the spare change you would have saved from buying a second hand car.

So, the choice you have to make when picking a car, is whether to go for the more expensive brand new car with all its trials. Or the second hand car with its lower price.
